The sheave is a fixed pulley at the top of the mine shaft headframe that adjusts the direction of the wire rope movement. Its function is to support the wire rope connecting the hoist drum and the hoisting container, and to guide the wire rope to turn. There are three types of sheaves: traveling sheaves, fixed surface sheaves, and fixed underground sheaves. The types of wire ropes compatible with these sheaves include phosphated coated wire ropes, galvanized wire ropes, or plain wire ropes.
